#Words&Whiskey | booktalk about our wild present, which is overtaking any satire.

The musician and author Elias Hirschl is a master at creating humorous and sometimes painful satire that turns into reality within a very short time. He recently proved this very impressively with his novel “Salonic” – a parody about Sebastian Kurz before leaving his position as politician.

The world that Hirschl creates in his new novel “content” is a fun world full of escapism. The protagonist does nothing other than create listicles (online content with the highest possible click rate) all day long. From the 10 worst burger shops around the world where you should go to die, to the 11 reasons why you still have fruit flies in your kitchen. This is all the “news” that people still consume in Hirschl’s novel.

On 26th of March from 7pm we ask Elias Hirschl and the cabaret artist and veterinarian Tereza Hossa how much of it is still satire in our current reality? Are we slipping into total stupidity? And how can you still do satire when the present is already showing the worst excesses?
